1. Privacy policy

1.1 What WikiIAS shows

WikiIAS (wikiias.com) is an independent project that indexes publicly available records of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers — name, cadre, batch year, posting history, education, and training — sourced primarily from the Department of Personnel & Training's (DoPT) Executive Record Sheets, published through the Government of India's SUPREMO portal (supremo.nic.in).

Every profile is rebuilt from that public-record source. We do not collect any information directly from the officers profiled on this site.

1.2 What we collect from website visitors

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to measure aggregate traffic — which pages are visited, approximate location, device type. This is the only third-party analytics running on this site, and we do not currently run any advertising.

Our web server records standard request metadata — IP address, user-agent, referring page — for security and troubleshooting. These logs are not used to build profiles of individual visitors, and are not published.

We do not require sign-up or an account to use this site.

1.3 What we do not do

• We do not sell profile data.
• We do not run advertising that targets specific officers or profiles.
• We do not offer investment advice or political commentary.
• We do not aggregate caste, religion, financial account details, or biometric data.
• We do not publish home addresses, family member identities, or personal contact details of any officer.
• We do not contact the subjects of profiles for solicitation.

1.4 Your rights

If a profile on this site relates to you, or you are an authorised representative of the officer profiled, you may request:

• Access — a copy of the information shown about you and the public source it was derived from.
• Correction — if any field is factually incorrect or out of date, we will update or remove it.
• Takedown — removal of the profile from public access. See Section 2 below.

Send requests to info@wikiias.com. We acknowledge requests within 24 hours and act on clear, verified requests within 15 days, in line with the response times set out in Section 3.

1.5 Legal basis (DPDP Act 2023)

We rely on the legitimate-interests basis for processing publicly available data under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. We apply purpose limitation — data is shown only in the context of public service and career record — and we do not surface home addresses, family member identities, or personal contact details. We run periodic checks against current public sources to keep records accurate, though we cannot guarantee a profile reflects the very latest transfer or promotion at any given moment.

2. Takedown procedure

2.1 Who can request a takedown

• The subject of the profile.
• An authorised representative — counsel, a family member with written authorisation, or the office of the subject (for serving officers, a request from the official email of the office is accepted).
• A government authority acting in an official capacity.

2.2 How to request

Email info@wikiias.com with the subject line "Takedown Request" and include:

• The exact URL(s) of the profile to be removed.
• The name as shown on the page.
• The basis for the request — you are the subject, or a representative (please state which).
• Optional: any factual correction you would prefer instead of full removal.

For profiles of serving public officials acting in their official capacity, we may seek to retain the profile if a takedown request comes from a third party with no demonstrable authorisation. In that case we will explain our reasoning in writing and offer specific correction options instead. We do not contest good-faith requests from the subject themselves.

3. Grievance Officer

In compliance with the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, the following contact has been designated to receive and address user grievances:

3.1 Categories of complaint accepted

• Privacy or identity-misuse complaints regarding any profile on this site.
• Factual inaccuracy or stale information in a profile.
• Alleged copyright or trademark infringement (please cite the work and the page).
• Defamatory content (specify the statement and the basis).
• Suspected impersonation of the WikiIAS brand on any third-party platform.

3.2 What to include in a grievance email

• Your name and a contact email.
• Your relationship to the subject of the complaint (self, representative, authority).
• The URL(s) on this site that are the subject of the complaint.
• A clear description of the grievance.
• Any supporting documentation (optional, but speeds resolution).

If a grievance cannot be resolved within 15 days, we will write to you with the reason and a revised expected timeline.

4. Terms of use

By using wikiias.com, you agree to the following:

• The information is provided as-is. We rebuild profiles from public records and check them periodically, but we do not guarantee that any profile is complete, current, or free of transcription error at the moment you view it.
• No automated bulk access. Scraping, crawling, or bulk-downloading profile data for republication, resale, or building a competing database is not permitted without our written consent.
• No misuse of officer data. Information on this site may not be used for harassment, impersonation, unsolicited solicitation, or any unlawful purpose against the individuals profiled.
• No warranty. This site is provided without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for decisions made in reliance on information shown here — always verify against the official source cited in Section 1.1 for anything consequential.
• Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in India.

This page is reviewed periodically. Material changes will be highlighted at the top of the page with a revised effective date.
